About us

James is a Director and co-owner of Howell Acoustics. He has a first class honours B.Sc. Acoustics, is a qualified project manager (APM PMQ), is a full corporate member of the UK Institute of Acoustics (IOA), is the Chairman of the IOA Building Acoustics Group and is coauthor of the UK national guidance documents Acoustics, Ventilation and Overheating and Guide to Demonstrating Compliance with the Noise Requirements of Approved Document O.

He has over 18 years’ experience in the field of acoustics, including working at the Building Research Establishment (BRE) in 2003 / 2004 after which he went on to hold leading roles in two of the leading acoustic consultancies in the UK.

James is a leading expert in the assessment of ventilation and overheating within buildings and in acoustic sustainable design overall.

He has worked on a wide range of project types and sizes across all sectors, both in the UK and internationally

Jonathan completed a degree in Acoustics in 2005. Since 2005 Jonathan has worked in acoustic consultancy specialising in building acoustics and environmental noise.

Jonathan has worked on a wide range of both large and small projects from different sectors including residential acoustics, office acoustics, acoustics in schools, acoustic in healthcare and noise in the workplace for example.

Jonathan has been a Senior Robust Details building inspector for the last 5 years.

Jonathan is a full corporate member of the Institute of Acoustics.

Jonathan is also a director of Peninsular Acoustics Limited
